i just came in to grab my bag - so i thought i'd drop a quick post...

it was a mistake wearing jeans today -- it's pretty hot and humid -- i'm sweating quite badly. what have i done today? came into work (as you know). played around with a skeleton Tkinter GUI to show crain (durham) and booth (durham) [homage to NPR there - did you notice it?] ... not sure what inputs they want to their omnipotent (and sure to become the de facto standard in the trade) volume rendering code, but it is fairly trivial to have anything. the one problem is that Tkinter doesn't look that slick, which i'm guessing is a major turn off. in the past i have done a similar thing in C/C++ (see this link for details) which looks much more professional. it's just a case of refreshing my memory on the whole thing. on the other had, the Tkinter interface would be very lightweight and easily modified in the future. hmmm. thoughts?

john came up with one of the most brilliant ideas i've ever heard on friday -- and i think is a real goer. it's virtually guaranteed to make money, but, ahem... requires a little outlay i feel. others arn't convinced, but i think it's a winner.
